For safe and fun skating, some important rules apply on the grounds and on the ice rinks. The house rules on the grounds are as follows.
in general.
- Entering the skating rink is entirely at your own risk as well as renting skates.
- Smoking is not permitted on the ice and in the skating clubhouse.
- It is not allowed to bring your own drinks and food.
- During mop-up breaks, it is not allowed to enter the ice.
- The use of gloves is compulsory at all times on both skating rinks.
- It is not allowed to bring your own sledges and/or skating aids to Skating Rink Rotterdam. Skating Rink Rotterdam has several skating aids which can be used free of charge.
- It is not allowed to walk on stones with the rental skates. Walking on skates is only allowed on rubber mats. In case of violation of this rule, we will charge the visitor the grinding costs of €10 per pair.
- Using a ball on the grounds is not allowed.
- The use of (ice) hockey sticks and pucks is not allowed during public hours.
- Throwing ice balls or snowballs or using fireworks is not allowed. Employees of Skating Rink Rotterdam have the right to immediately remove violators from the complex.
- Dogs are not allowed on the grounds. This has to do with dog safety in connection with visitors' sharp irons.
- Serious unbecoming and/or aggressive behaviour will be reported to the police at all times.
- In case of emergencies, please follow the instructions of the staff of Skating Rink Rotterdam.
- The organisation and the third parties engaged by the organisation - including but not limited to the ice rink attendants, the volunteers present, the catering staff and/or security staff - reserve at all times the right to refuse access to and/or to remove from the ice rink anyone who does not behave according to the applicable rules.
- The participant and/or public should at all times follow the instructions of the organisation and the third parties engaged by the organisation, including but not limited to the ice rink masters, the volunteers present, the catering staff and/or security staff.
- The organisation reserves the right, should the situation require it, to decide otherwise than as stated in these house rules.
400—metre rink.
- The inside of the 400-metre track is for fast/experienced riders.
- The outside of the 400-metre rink is intended for slow, learning and recreational riders.
- The use of sleds and/or skating aids is not allowed on the 400-metre rink.
- The skating rinks may only be entered with under-bound skates; it is not allowed to enter the ice with your shoes. This also applies to young children.
- The use of gloves is compulsory on both skating rinks at all times.
- It is not permitted to enter the 400-metre rink when it is being mopped.
- It is not allowed to sit on the boarding along the ice rink.
Fun- en curling rink.
- On this ice rink, the use of skates is not allowed; this rink may only be entered with artificial and ice hockey skates (and skating irons).
- The skating rinks may only be entered with under-bound skates; it is not allowed to enter the ice with your shoes. This also applies to young children.
- The use of gloves is compulsory at all times on both skating rinks.
- The use of skating aids, obtained through Schaatsbaan Rotterdam, is permitted on the Funbaan.
- It is not permitted to take a skating aid from Skating Rink Rotterdam to the Winter Square, restaurant or the 400-metre rink: skating aids remain on the Funbaan at all times.
- It is not allowed to enter the Funbaan when it is being mopped.
- It is not allowed to sit on the boarding along the ice rink.
- Following the Fun rink is the Curling rink. The Curling rink is primarily intended for curling; when no clinics take place on this rink, this ice rink is also used for skating. Opening hours of the Curling rink for skaters depend on bookings of clinics.
entrance tickets.
- Entrance tickets are only available online at tickets.schaatsbaanrotterdam.nl.
- Entrance tickets are only valid in combination with a valid time slot ticket.
- A reserved time slot can be changed to another time slot as long as the corresponding admission ticket has not been scanned at the entrance. The difference in price will not be refunded.
- The time slot can be changed without limit until the end of the current season; after that, the ticket's validity expires.
- Reservations are non-cancellable and/or non-refundable.
- Tickets and season tickets of Skating Rink Rotterdam are personal and can only be used by one person at the entrance.
- Season tickets and season tickets of Skating Rink Rotterdam are seasonal. Remaining rides cannot be used during a subsequent season.
- Possession of an admission ticket does not automatically entitle you to admission; in the event of extreme crowding, the organisation reserves the right to temporarily refuse admission.

how does the RotterdamPas work?
The Rotterdam Pass can be used for 1x free admission. No skates are included in this promotion. The Rotterdampas action can only be redeemed online, not at the cash desk. To use the promotion, please follow the steps as indicated via tickets.schaatsbaanrotterdam.nl. Did something go wrong during your order and your code no longer works, even though you haven't used it yet? Then wait one hour before ordering and try again. After 1 hour your unique Rotterdampas discount code will be released again (if no payment has been made).

is Schaatsbaan Rotterdam open during official holidays?
Skating Rink Rotterdam is open daily during the winter months. Opening hours may vary during holidays. Check opening hours before your visit.

do I need to make a reservation?
We use time slots. This way, we can guarantee all visitors an entrance at Skating Rink Rotterdam. Online booking is therefore a must. You can reserve your time slot via tickets.schaatsbaanrotterdam.nl. Is the time slot not convenient after all? The time slots can be rebooked to any time of your choice until the end of the season.

I'm too late, now what?
You can enter 30 minutes before and 30 minutes after your reserved time slot. Not going to make it? Then rebook your ticket using the link in your confirmation e-mail. You received this when you bought your tickets. Rebooking is possible until the end of the season.

No, tickets are sold online via tickets.schaatsbaanrotterdam.nl.

for how long can I skate?
Once inside is inside! You can skate for as long as you want.

I want to rebook my time slot, is this possible?
You can always rebook non-scanned tickets to another time slot of your choice until the end of the season. Please note that for a ‘more expensive’ time slot, you have to pay the difference in price. For a ‘cheaper’ time slot, the difference in price is not refundable. You can rebook using the link in your confirmation e-mail. You received this when you bought your tickets. Cancelling tickets is not possible.

may I leave the premises and come back later in the day with the same ticket?
No. Tickets can only be used once.

I will only come to watch, do I pay admission?
Even if you only come to watch, you pay admission. However, you do get a discount on your entrance fee; a companion ticket is available online for €4. This ticket allows you to enter, but not to rent skates once you are inside.

can I cancel my order?
It is not possible to cancel already purchased tickets. However, it is possible to change your ticket to another time! This allows you to use your tickets at a time that suits you better. Rebooking is possible until the end of the season. After that it is no longer possible to rebook and the validity of the ticket expires. You can rebook using the link in the confirmation e-mail you received when you bought your ticket(s).

can I rent skates?
Always rent your skates in advance online via tickets.schaatsbaanrotterdam.nl. We rent ice hockey skates and rinks. For the little ones, we sell ice skates in the shop (up to shoe size 30).

can I sharpen my skates at Schaatsbaan Rotterdam?
This is possible! You can have your speed skates, ice hockey- and figure skating skates sharpened in the shop. Sharpening is possible from as little as €13.50. Our partner Schaatsplus will be happy to advise you during your visit. Depending on how busy it is, skates can be sharpened immediately.

what types of skates are allowed?
- On the Fun rink, you may enter the ice with figure skates, ice hockey skates and ice skates. You are not allowed to skate on this rink with skates.
- On the 400-metre rink, you can skate with all types of skates. Please note! During the speed skating hour, the 400-metre rink may only be entered with skates. Recreational skaters on other types of skates skate on the Fun rink during the skating hour.

is there First Aid?
At Skating Rink Rotterdam, at least one certified first aider is present on site at all times. If first aid is needed, please consult one of our staff members.

is the site accessible for wheelchairs?
The site is easily accessible for people with physical disabilities. Would you also like to go on the ice for a while? Give us a call prior to your visit; then we can advise on the safest times to do so. You can reach us by phone on 010 7900 514.

can I use a locker?
Lockers can be found in the entrance hall. These lockers are cashless; you pay by iDeal (using your phone).

where can I park my car?
Schaatsbaan Rotterdam has its own car park for about 300 cars. Parking is free! If the car park is full, please check this page for other options.

until when is my rides card or season ticket valid?
Ride cards and season tickets are seasonal and therefore only valid for the season for which you bought them. You cannot take remaining season tickets and/or subscriptions with you to the next winter. New purchases can be made via the webshop.

Can more than one person use a ticket?
No. The rides cards and subscriptions are personalised and can only be used by one person. A rides card or season ticket can only be scanned once per part of the day at the entrance.

Can I bring a sledge or other skating aid?
No, own skating aids are not allowed. Luckily, we have these on the ice! Our seals can be found on the Fun rink. Use of these is free of charge. Please note that the seals are not allowed on the 400-metre rink; on this rink you have to try it without a skate helper! 😉

can I enter the ice with my shoes on?
No, this is not allowed. The ice rinks can only be entered with skates. This therefore also applies to accompanying parents/carers.

why is wearing gloves mandatory?
Wearing gloves is compulsory for your own safety, as falling on ice causes serious abrasions. In addition, gloves provide some protection against sharp blades of other skaters. Don't have gloves with you? These are available at the service desk from €6 per pair.

are you allowed to bring your own food and drinks?
No. You are not allowed to bring your own drinks and food (except for a bottle of water, water bottle or sports drink). At the Winter Square there is fortunately enough choice of drinks and snacks/food! In case of violation of this rule, please put your brought drinks/food back in your bag immediately.

what is the ice maintenance schedule?
During the maintenance break of the 400-metre track, it is not allowed to enter the track. The fun track will be open then. The mopping-up schedule can be found here. There is no maintenance schedule for the fun track; it is resurfaced at least three times a day and, depending on how busy it is that day, once or twice more.

what is the 'noren-uur'?
During the noren hour, only experienced/fast noren riders are allowed on the 400-metre track. The noren hour is daily at 08:00-09:00, on Monday from 18:30-22:00, on Wednesday from 18:30-20:00 and on Sunday from 07:00-08:45. During the noren hour, recreational, learning and slow skaters on figure- and ice hockey skates are not allowed on the 400-metre rink. The fun rink is open during the noren hour (except on Mondays, on Mondays the entire ice skating rink is closed for any visitor who isn't participating in the noren hour or a course by Duosport).

Yes, you can! Please keep in mind that speed skates/noren are not allowed at the Fun Rink.

what is a skate frame?
The skate frame is a sports aid for children with motor/physical disabilities, low balance or low energy. Thanks to this skating frame, skating is accessible to every child! You rent it online prior to your visit for €7.50 per visit.
